Moto3 Silverstone: Almansa Wins as Carpe Closes Championship Gap

Moto3 once again delivered a little bit of everything at Silverstone, but it was David Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) who came out on top after a race that stayed competitive right through to the final lap. Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) took second, moving himself closer to the Championship lead in the absence of Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team), while Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) grabbed the final podium place.

    Pirelli Press Office

The weekend had already been turned upside down before the race had even started. Championship leader Quiles suffered a huge highside during qualifying and was subsequently forced to withdraw from the Grand Prix. The Spaniard sustained a broken collarbone in the crash and later underwent surgery, meaning his enormous Championship advantage suddenly became a little less comfortable. At the other end of the grid, Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power) had given the home crowd something to celebrate by securing pole position. It was a huge moment for the Brit, but the fairytale would unfortunately last just five laps.

When the lights went out, it was Almansa who made the strongest getaway despite starting from the second row. The Spaniard immediately found himself at the front, with Carpe settling into second and Adrian Cruces (CIP Green Power) joining the early fight. Ogden didn’t get the launch he wanted and slipped backwards from pole, while Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) quickly joined the battle at the sharp end. Before long, a group of seven riders had formed at the front and the familiar Moto3 freight train was underway.

Cruces was caught up in a multiple-rider incident and crashed out, creating a gap behind the leading group. Then came the heartbreak for the home fans as Ogden lost the front at Club corner and slid out of his home Grand Prix. After the highs of pole position, his race was over. With Cruces and Ogden gone, the fight for the podium settled into a six-rider scrap, with Joel Esteban (LEVEL UP – MTA) working his way into the mix.

Up front, Almansa remained the rider to beat. The #22 kept himself at the head of the group and began to establish a small advantage as the laps ticked away. Behind him, however, there was absolutely no shortage of action. Uriarte and Fernandez were locked together, while Carpe remained within striking distance. Esteban was also firmly in the podium conversation, ensuring Almansa couldn’t afford to switch off for even a moment.

As the final lap began, Almansa had managed to create around four tenths of breathing room. It wasn’t a huge advantage, but it was enough to keep him out of the worst of the fighting behind.

Uriarte and Fernandez were battling over third when Sachsenring winner Uriarte suddenly lost the front at Turn 6. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider slid out of the podium fight, although he was able to remount and continue. That left Fernandez fighting Carpe for second, with Perrone closing in rapidly. The three riders headed into the final sector with everything still to play for.

Fernandez suffered a moment at exactly the wrong time, opening the door for Carpe to move through before Perrone followed him past. In the space of a few corners, Fernandez had gone from podium contender to fourth. Out front, Almansa was already clear and crossed the line to claim his first victory since Balaton Park and his second win of the 2026 season. Carpe secured second after another strong performance, while Perrone timed his late charge perfectly to steal third and claim his first podium of the race season. Fernandez had to settle for fourth, with Esteban completing the top five after another impressive ride. Kelso led the next group home in sixth, ahead of Salmela, who continued his strong rookie form with seventh.

Eddie O’Shea (GRYD Racing) came home eighth. Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) finished ninth, while Matteo Bertelle (LEVEL UP – MTA) rounded out the top ten.

Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) just missed out on the top ten in 11th, ahead of Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Guido Pini (Leopard Racing). David Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) collected 13th, while Kiattisak Singhapong (Honda Team Asia) completed the points scorers in 15th.

BTCC Knockhill – Chilton rolls back the years with race three win

Tom Chilton rolled back the years to lead from lights to flag to take victory in race three at Knockhill. Having been handed pole position by the reverse grid draw, the veteran racer led off the line and was never threatened.

Chilton started well off the grid, having got the better of Selby to lead and never look back. It was a poor end to the weekend for hometown hero Gordon Shedden’s as a puncture on lap one saw him fall down the order.

The NAPA Ford trio were chasing down Chilton, with Selby holding his own against his much more experienced team mate in Dan Cammish. Sam Osborne in the third Focus went off on lap five. He managed to continue having reversed out the gravel trap.

Adam Morgan, race one winner for Plato Racing, was powering up the order having passed Cammish for third and then Selby for second as he out dragged the Ford down the start finish straight.

The other Ford, none other than Ash Sutton, was for once struggling to get through the order. He started 12th and couldn’t make much progress as title rival Tom Ingram managed to get past Sutton and managed to reduce the title lead by two points.

It was Chilton who took victory, the 19th of his career, with Morgan rounding off a productive weekend for the Plato Racing team with second and Dan Cammish taking third spot.

Dexter Patterson was the highest placed Scot with another impressive outing finishing fourth ahead of the WSR pair of Charles Rainford and Daryl De Leon. Dan Rowbottom was seventh and Josh Cook eighth.

Ricky Collard led home team mate Tom Ingram for ninth and tenth respectively while Mikey Doble fended off Sutton for 11th. Lewis Selby, Chris Smiley and James Dorlin rounded off the points finishers.

  • BTCC Knockhill – Sutton strengthens grip on title with win and Ingram retirement

BTCC Knockhill – Sutton strengthens grip on title with win and Ingram retirement

Ash Sutton took his seventh win of the season as he capitalised on title rival Tom Ingram’s retirement early in the race.

The dominant Ford driver took his 54th win of his career as the title now seems a foregone conclusion with the gap now 83 points.

Starting fourth on the soft tyres, Sutton was third by turn one as Rowbottom stole the lead from team mate Adam Morgan going into turn one. The Safety Car was deployed at the end of lap one as Aiden Moffat went across the grass into turn two. His car hit a dip and it caused irreparable damage to his Audi S3.

More importantly however, Tom Ingram, the man seemingly tasked with reeling Sutton in, was out by the end of lap one. Hehad an engine issue in race one which the Vertu mechanics worked on throughout the break, but he was in the pits at the end of the first lap. An innocuous tap into the back of Gordon Shedden seemed to break the engine again.

Lap six saw the restart as Sutton reeled in Morgan and took second on lap seven into turn two before hunting down Rowbottom. The sheer pace of the Ford Focus in the hands of Sutton meant he was on the tail of the Mercedes by lap 11.

Going into the hairpin Rowbottom went defensive but Sutton pulled a smart move to dive down the inside and take the lead, never looking back.

Ricky Collard continued his impressive weekend as he took third from Morgan and fought to take a hard earned podium.

While Sutton will take the plaudits, Charles Rainford was the star of the show. Starting 21st, Rainford stormed up the grid to be sixth by the chequered flag, an incredibly impressive race for the BMW man.

There was a second Safety Car period on lap 22 when Chris Smiley broke his left front suspension while trying to overtake. He went off at turn one and beached his Hyundai in the gravel trap.

The Safety Car pulled in on lap 27 to give us one last lap to sprint to the finish. Sutton pulled away while Rowbottom had to defend from Collard.

Sutton took the win to equal Gordon Shedden’s wins tally of 54, the most of any driver on the current grid. Rowbottom secured second and more points for Plato Racing with Collard third.

Mikey Doble took fourth for the Independents win, with Morgan, Rainford and Shedden close behind. Dexter Patterson was eighth ahead of the NAPA Ford trio of Dan Cammish, Sam Osborne and Lewis Selby.

Tom Chilton was 12th with Aron Taylor-Smith, James Dorlin and Josh Cook rounding off the points.

  • BTCC Knockhill – Morgan and Rowbottom secure historic first win and one-two for Plato Racing

BTCC Knockhill – Morgan and Rowbottom secure historic first win and one-two for Plato Racing

Adam Morgan converted pole into race win as he secured the first win for Cataclean Plato Racing. He led from lights to flag with team mate Dan Rowbottom finishing second to make it not only the first win, but the first one-two for Jason Plato’s eponymous outfit.

Morgan got a good start off the line with Shedden also starting well but the Mercedes man was able to fend off the three time champion. Morgan benefited from team mate Rowbottom hounding Shedden to build a one second lead by the end of lap one.

Dan Cammish made a false start off the grid, having edged forward slightly with the lights still red. He received a ten second penalty for the infringement.

Championship leader Ash Sutton was surging up the grid, sitting sixth by the end of lap two having started 11th.

Tom Chilton had an excursion into the gravel trap having been nudged off by Dexter Patterson into the chicane. Meanwhile back at the front Rowbottom was on Shedden’s tail. The Plato Racing man got a good exit out of the final hairpin and out dragged Shedden down the start finish straight to take second.

Behind the pair Ricky Collard, who had secured extra funding to contest the next three rounds, made his way up to fourth with Charles Rainford and Sutton in tow. He didn’t hold onto fourth for long though as Sutton managed to squeeze past the Team Vertu driver before the chicane.

Sutton’s title rival Tom Ingram wasn’t far behind, moving into fifth place by lap 14 and trying to limit the damage to the championship lead. Rainford was racing well before being pulled into the pits due to his rear bumper hanging off, resulting in the black and orange mechanical flag being waved for him.

The Safety Car was deployed on lap 17 when Lewis Gilbert was sent spinning into the gravel trap  having been tapped off by Josh Cook. After a six lap delay the race resumed.

The Mercedes pair pulled away while Shedden was holding on for third defending from Sutton and Ingram behind him.

Rainford was involved in further issues as he spun on lap 24, dropping him to the back of the grid.

The Power Maxed Audi’s came back firing after the restart with Patterson, Doble and Moffat passing Daryl De Leon in his WSR BMW.

Morgan secured his 12th career win with Rowbottom behind securing the first one-two for Plato Racing. Shedden finished third at his home circuit with Sutton and Ingram finishing fourth and fifth respectively having ran side by side up to the line.

Collard finished sixth with the PMR trio of Patterson, Doble and Moffat following behind. Moffat in particular had an excellent race from 22nd on the grid to ninth by the finish.

Sam Osborne rounded out the top ten with De Leon close behind. Aron Taylor-Smith, Josh Cook, Lewis Selby and James Dorlin rounded out the top ten.

  • Formula E Season 13 Driver Lineup Predictions

Formula E Season 13 Driver Lineup Predictions

As the final weekend of Gen3 is next week, Kieran has looked into the Season 13 lineups and tried to predict who will appear where!

Only 3 of the (current) 10 teams have confirmed their lineups (or one driver in Opel’s case) ahead of the finale in London: Andretti and Citroen.

Starting with Citroen, this isn’t a surprise as both Vergne and Nick Cassidy have collected podiums and many points as stellantis powered cars. After the death of their team principal Cyril Blais, consistency within the team from a drivers side is important so confirming them early helps take the pressure off of the team from this side.

Andretti have gone through many drivers over the past few years. Nato and Mueller to name a few. So to not only bring in a rookie AND continue with a second team with them is a big move for the team. However, Felipe has gelled very well with the team, with both parties being happy with each other, with Felipe getting a podium and multiple points.

Opel has officially confirmed that the F2 2023 champion Theo Pourchaire will be joining the team in their debut season. Pourchaire was at the Opel launch so it was always a matter of when this would be announced.

    Officially confirmed:

Andretti Formula E- Jake Dennis/ Felipe Drugovich

Citroen Racing – Nick Cassidy/Jean-Eric Vergne

Opel GSL Formula E Team- Theo Pourchaire

    Expected to be confirmed:

Porsche Formula E Team-Pascal Wehrlein / Nico Mueller

With Porsche, both Wehrlein and Mueller have tested the Gen4 cars with Porsche so they will be staying on and deserved with their performances and wins.

Jaguar TCS Racing-Stoffel Vandoorne/Antonio Felix Da Costa

For Jaguar, Da Costa has tested and has a contract. However, with Evans departing the team, that frees up a seat and rumours suggest it is Stoffel Vandoorne’s seat for Gen4, after he lost out on his seat at Maserati to the Citroen drivers.

    Opel GSL Formula E Team-Theo Pourchaire/Mitch Evans

For Opel, while Sophia Floersch is confirmed as a development driver and Theo Pourchaire as a full time driver, paddock rumours suggest Mitch Evans will join the new team under the stellantis brand’s expansion.

    Nissan Formula E Team-Oliver Rowland/Victor Martins

Nissan are expected to retain Season 11 champion Oliver Rowland while Norman Nato will lose his seat at the manufacturers. In his place, another Frenchman Victor Martins will take his place after Alpine leave WEC this year.

    Envision Racing-Maximilian Guenther

For Envision, Guenther is reported to make the move from DS Penske to Envision Racing. While it is not known which driver will make way for the incoming German driver, Sebastian Buemi is a WEC driver with Toyota and there are clashes with the calendar for next year, Buemi leaving the sport in favour of Guenther makes sense…to me anyway.

    Recap of Expected Lineups:

Porsche Formula E Team-Pascal Wehrlein / Nico Mueller

Jaguar TCS Racing-Stoffel Vandoorne/Antonio Felix Da Costa

    Opel GSL Formula E Team-Theo Pourchaire/Mitch Evans

    Nissan Formula E Team-Oliver Rowland/Victor Martins

    Envision Racing-Maximilian Guenther

    Rest of the Grid Predictions

The next phase are lineups that have little to no rumours to them and who make logical sense to me.

    Envision Racing-Joel Eriksson/Maximilian Guenther

To continue on from the Envision section from above, while Guenther is expected to be confirmed, it is currently a 50/50 between Buemi and Eriksson for the second Envision seat. Buemi has experience and a championship on his side, but will miss the Shanghai double header due to a WEC conflict after the Monaco E-Prix date was changed. Personally, I think Eriksson will take the seat as he has shown good pace this year and does have a podium to his name in tough conditions.

SHANGHAI, CHINA – JULY 04: Maximilian Gunther of Germany driving the (7) DS Penske DS E-Tense FE25 on track during the Shanghai E-Prix, Round 12 of the 2026 FIA Formula E World Championship at Shanghai International Circuit on July 04, 2026 in Shanghai, China. (Photo by Joe Portlock/LAT Images)

    Porsche Formula E Team’s 2nd Team-Ayhancan Güven /Dan Ticktum

Note: While reports have emerged that Porsche will not contest a second factory team, they have not been confirmed yet so I’m still predicting their line-up:

Let’s start with Porsche’s second factory team, confirmed to be arriving last year. This will mean they will not be a customer team and have the same powertrain as Wehrlein and Mueller’s team. With this, I believe Dan Ticktum is the driver to help lead this team. As now a multiple E-Prix winner and experience with a Porsche powertrain, he makes the most sense from an experience point of view.

Beside him, Ayhancan Güven has been rumoured as a driver with the expectation of entering the world championship as he already races with Porsche in DTM. He is 28 and has experience under his belt.

    Cupra Kiro-Pepe Marti/Taylor Barnard

This one if 50% shot in the dark, 50% logical.
For Pepe Marti, he has made MAJOR improvements from his first race in Sao Paulo with a massive airborne crash to getting multiple podiums in his debut season.

For Taylor Barnard, I think he will depart from DS Penske and make his change to the Cupra Kiro team with the seat vacated by Ticktum

Mahindra Racing- Nyck De Vries/ Kush Maini

For the Indian team of Mahindra, I think keeping De Vries is a no brainer. With multiple race  wins this season alone and being in mathematical chance when we enter London, they have to keep him.

For Mortara…I think there will be frustration on both sides that Mortara hasn’t been able to win yet this season and that the team was late with its Gen4 debut compared to other manufacturers. So I think the F2 veteran Kush Maini will join Formula E full time next season.

    Lola Yamaha Abt-Zane Maloney/Robert Shwartzman

With the retirement of Lucas Di Grassi from professional racing, Lola needs someone who has spend a few years in the series so why not stick with the rookie they brought into the sport; Zane Maloney? Its a no brainer to me as Zane has shown speed and being able to keep it clean while other drivers get penalties can boost him into the points.

Now, onto Lucas’ replacement. A few names have swirled around but I think Robert Shwartzman is most likely as he is clearly looking for a way back after Prema’s departure from Indycar. This is based on rumours/reports I’ve seen.

Full Formula E Season 13 Driver Lineup Predictions:
